Connotation Photos

Connotation photos

These photos were taken to connote certain feels of strength, weakness, and various other emotions. They were also used to practice newly learned shot types such as Worms Eye View and Low Angle shot.

Worms Eye View. Connotes fear. The camera is being stood over and thus giving the impression of fear, for what may happen next.  

The White shirt on the Black background connotes purity as White has traditionally been associated with purity we used a medium shot to achieve the desired effect. However we couldn't find a black background so we used a bit of especially dark car park instead.  

High angle shot, connotes Greed as one person has 4 sweets and the other has 1. To capture this shot the camera man stood on a chair and arched their body to get the desired effect. 

Straight on shot, connotes desire as Ellis is looking straight longingly at the vending machine that shows his desire for the food or sweets inside. 

Medium shot Connotes strength.As a punch has been caught in mid air and countered. Unfortunately this shot came out a little over exposed  due to the fact we shot towards the sun. 

High angle shot, used to connote poverty as one person is begging and someone else is just walking past without caring or taking notice of the beggar. 

Straight on shot. Connotes love as the two sides are hugging embracing each other lovingly. A straight on shot was done to capture both sides during the embrace. 

Straight on shot, connotes weakness as the person is looking into the mirror unhappy with themselves and giving of an air of weakness about them. Weakness was one of the hardest for us to capture along with purity. However this was easier than poverty. 

Long shot. Used to connote loneliness this was the easiest to capture as we immediately chose to go for the most obvious meaning of loneliness. For this the subject went and sat in the middle of the football field which we then used to Connote loneliness.  

Connotes Wealth, again we used a Extreme close up to connote wealth. However we chose to do material wealth as that was the easiest to connote through a single image and the using what we had at out disposal. 

Connotes Danger. We used a Medium shot to show someone on their phone and possibly to bee attacked from behind, showing they are in fact in immediate danger. 

Connotes Friendship A final Extreme close up was used to capture a handshake. We used a ECU as it was it seemed to be the best choice for Friendship.
